A: Your Choice! If you want to park at your destination and get shuttled to your starting point, simply call us in advance and make a reservation so we are ready for you. Otherwise, simply call us when you are starting your trip and tell us where you want to end and we will meet you there and take you back to your vehicles. Remember, we don't start answering phones until 9am, so if you are taking an early start you should call us the day before to arrange pickup for when you are done.

Q: What is the weight capacity of the kayaks as I am a large individual?
A: The average kayak will support 425 pounds (total of all people and gear in the kayak). If you need a kayak that can support more, please let us know and we can arrange for a kayak that can support up to 500-520 pounds. Exceeding or coming close to the weight limit on a kayak will greatly increase your risk of the kayak becoming unstable and causing the kayak to tip over.

Q: What is the chance that the kayak will flip over and I will end up in the water?
A: You are embarking on a water adventure on a moving body of water. We provide skillfully trained guides to go along with all of our tours. Their job is to make sure you have a fun and safe journey down the Buffalo Bayou. If you have not paddled before we provide a basic paddling clinic before every tour. However, although it is rare, there is always a chance that nature will provide an obstacle that can cause your kayak to flip.

Q: Can we bring our dog on the kayak with us?
A: Yes, as long as your dog has a lifejacket. You can purchase many pet friendly life jackets at Austin Canoe and kayak over on Bissonnet. If it is a small dog, we recommend the life jacket with the handle to make it easier to lift and transport your dog.

Q: What is the age limit for children to go on the kayak tours?
A: There is no age limit. We have had children as young as 5 years of age on the tours and they have had a great time. All that we ask is to make sure your child will have the attention span for the 2-3 hour journey down the Buffalo Bayou. Additionally, we have some universal children's life jackets, but for young children you really want to have your own to guarantee a proper fit.
