Allen's Landing

Allen's Landing is the birthplace of Houston, TX. In August 1836, just months after the Republic of Texas won its independence from Mexico, two brothers (and real estate developers) from New York, John Kirby Allen and Augustus Chapman Allen, purchased 6,642 acres in the area and settled there on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. A modern-day campus of the University of Houston- Downtown sits atop Allen's Landing.

Allen's Landing is currently the eastern most access point on the official Buffalo Bayou Paddling Trail. With it's gradual slopes it makes it very easy for paddlers of all skill levels to get in or out of the bayou.

NOTICE: Currently there is construction going on at Allen's Landing. Although the end result will produce beautiful scenery as of right now, it makes it a little difficult regarding parking and launching or pulling out your watercraft.
