Buffalo Bayou Shuttle Service Guided Tours

The Buffalo Bayou Shuttle Service is proud to announce our guided history tours.

The guides of the Buffalo Bayou Shuttle Service have taken many trips down the Buffalo Bayou and can advise or assist anyone looking for a fun experience.  They will point out beautiful sights as well as obstacles to navigate through. They will fill you in on the History of the Bayou and how it relates to Houston. From the Civil War to Present Day, there is a lot of history on the Buffalo Bayou.

THE TOURS

Houston Skyline Tour
The Houston Skyline tour is one of the best ways to view downtown Houston. The tour is roughly 3 hours and stretches approximately 7.65 miles from Woodway Memorial Park to Sabine Street. You will navigate through the beautiful scenery and landscapes of Memorial Park and the Hogg Bird Sanctuary. The Buffalo Bayou will then open its arms to you as you enter into the Buffalo Bayou Park. Here you will view the Waugh Bridge Bat Colony, Eleanor Tinsley Park, and of course the highlight of the tour, the towering skyline of downtown Houston. Make sure you bring your camera as these are views few people get to see. You will then disembark at Sabine street, just east of the Sabine Street bridge. This tour is great for beginners and first time kayakers.  (click here to view a map of the Houston Skyline Tour)

The Navigator's Tour

The Navigators tour provides a different view of Houston. The tour is roughly 2 hours and stretches approximately 6.18 miles from Briar Bend Park to Woodway Memorial Park. Briar Bend Park is one of the best boat launch sites on the Buffalo Bayou when the water height is up.  Besides all the great scenery and landscapes to see, you will have many twists and turns on the Buffalo Bayou. You will have a few small rapids and get to visit the Chimney Rock Bat Colony. The tour will end at Woodway Memorial Park. Children are not allowed on this tour unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. (click here to view a map of the Navigator's Tour)

The Adventures Tour

The Adventures Tour covers a section of the Buffalo Bayou that very few have ever paddled. The tour begins at the Beltway or Wilcrest launch, goes through the Lakeside Country Club, The east section of Terry Hershey Park, behind the beautiful houses and overlooks of Memorial and finishes at Briar Bend Park. You will encounter a few fun sets of rapids, including a fun drop in elevation. There is always the possibility of having to portage on this tour. Oh yeah, and you will probably get wet!! Children are not allowed on this tour unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Terry Hershey Park Kayak Tour

New for 2012 is the Terry Hershey Park Kayak Tour. This tour is great for all skill levels, especially beginners. This tour will start at either Highway 6 or Memorial Mews and paddle downstream to the take out at Dairy Ashford. Very few people have paddles this section and seen the inspiring scenery that surrounds it. This is a very relaxed and easy paddle. There is always the possibility of having to portage on any tours on the Buffalo Bayou.
